Use of SCHMITT Pumps in Surface Treatment
Background and Challenge
Surface technology systems include cleaning, pickling, etching, passivation, coating, and rinsing. Pumps keep baths in motion, supply filters and spray systems, and transport fluids between treatment stages.
Material, design and sealing concept are selected according to the process, temperature, bath condition and installation.
Challenge
Acidic, alkaline, oxidizing, or metal-containing fluids, as well as temperature fluctuations, solid ingress, and precipitation stress materials, bearings, and seals. A change of fluid requires a renewed compatibility verification.
Solution
SCHMITT offers mag-drive pumps, mechanically sealed pumps, immersion pumps and self-priming designs in PP, PVDF or stainless steel. Our patent-pending NHM plain-bearing solution, together with the MPN in the corresponding SiC/SiC configuration, combines an externally mounted, generously dimensioned design with the absence of a plug-in shaft, increasing robustness at defined levels of solids, crystals or precipitates. The MPN is also available with a PTFE/Al₂O₃ plain-bearing material pairing.
The bearing pairing and permissible loading are determined according to the particle properties and the specific fluid. Relevant series are NHM, MPN, U, T and UP; electroless nickel processes are assessed separately.
Advantages of SCHMITT Pumps in Surface Treatment
PP, PVDF and stainless steel for different cleaning, pickling and process fluids.
Uniform volumetric flow rates for bath circulation, filtration, and spraying systems.
The SCHMITT design provides controlled absorption of axial and radial forces.
For the NHM and the MPN in the corresponding SiC/SiC configuration, the generously dimensioned plain-bearing design without a plug-in shaft increases robustness at defined levels of solids, crystals and precipitates.
Magnetic drive, mechanical seal or vertical cantilever design depending on the application.
Stainless steel and properly engineered anodic protection concepts are assessed for each application.
