Environmental industry

Exhaust gases contaminated with pollutants are generated in a wide range of industrial manufacturing and combustion processes. These exhaust gases must therefore be cleaned or the pollutants neutralised before the exhaust gases can be released into the environment. Our customers use gas scrubbers or wet separators for this purpose. They remove chemical and particulate contaminants from the exhaust gases using suitable liquids in the gas stream.

Acids or lyes are often used in this process. The collected, contaminated fluid is treated in wastewater treatment plants. A robust pump is required to ensure safe operation. This applies not only in terms of chemical resistance. The pump used must also reliably provide the pressure required in continuous operation to operate the spray heads. Our pumps deliver both in many exhaust gas cleaning systems.

Schmitt pumps: robust solutions for sustainable processes

Centrifugal pumps are a central component of environmental technology systems, as they convey fluids continuously and efficiently. Schmitt centrifugal pumps are specifically designed for use with aggressive, contaminated and, in some cases, solids-containing fluids and ensure safe operation in a wide range of environmental technology applications.

A key advantage is the consistent, low-pulsation flow. This ensures stable process conditions, for example during circulation in treatment tanks, in gas scrubbers or when dosing chemicals. At the same time, centrifugal pumps are robust in design and require little maintenance, making them particularly suitable for systems with continuous operation.

In environmental technology, leak tightness and operational reliability are crucial. Magnetic drive pumps from Schmitt are hermetically sealed and prevent hazardous fluids from escaping. Alternatively, pumps with mechanical seals provide cost-effective solutions for less critical applications. Dry-run capable immersion pumps are also suitable for open systems and tanks.

Thanks to their high chemical resistance, flexibility and reliability, Schmitt centrifugal pumps can be integrated effectively into environmental technology processes – from wastewater treatment and exhaust air purification through to recirculation and dosing of process chemicals.
